Expert Posts: 1465 | Episode 116 | Season 1 | 03/10/2010 "I'M FINE" http://www.nbc.com/mercy/recaps/#cat=1&mea=116&ima=80172  This episode has Mike advising Chris that Veronica is Suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and that she has a family that goes into denial and doesn't talk about problems, pretending they will "go away"... She and Mike have a deep love from childhood that is marred with infidelity, a place of no return… As is her relationship with Tuppers character... marred with infidelity... Her war experience forced her to know effective violence techniques of self-defense and not use them... Seeing the sexually abused child was Way Too Much for her and her Rage exploded onto the mother who had allowed her boyfriend to rape the child while she was in the hospital. The child was then diagnosed with Gonorrhea and 4 schoolboys blamed... The mother had made the child tell this lie to protect her boyfriend who had raped the child in the hospital. Veronica exploded onto the Mother Her supervisor was no help. She pretended to Chris, Tuppers' character, that she had a good day... as was her families tradition... not to "spoil" dinner... The clue for Chris that there is something wrong is that Veronica is drunk and the proof of what has gone wrong will be inevitable when he gets to the hospital to work... Then Veronica will have to suffer his inquisition, Mike will be shown to be "right" about her hiding feelings, and her job will be at risk as she assaulted the mother of the child patient... The police consider her a hero, but the hospital will deal with her too... Veronica just served time in a war zone, shot a guy, chose between 2 men who are deeply in love with her and has no escape from them, at home, at the bar, or at work... she has just killed one murderous robber and assaulted a mother "pimping" her seriously injured/sexually abused daughter who was being used by the mother as a sex slave for the mothers' boyfriends... Veronica is getting drunk and having dinner with a man who loves her... at shows' end... hmmm Veronica is a trained professional, a nurse, who has been in battle and is in battle and has no place to rest and release,... This horrific episode has horrific consequences for Veronica This show which is Threatened with Discontinuation, has a petition going and a fan club, especially here where we take a personal interest in JAMES TUPPER and his work. It would be nice to hear PRAISE, as this show, dealing with the Darkness to Light Topic so BRAVELY, this show, MERCY, DESERVES PRAISE. After watching the last episode of MERCY I WAS SPEECHLESS AND COULD ONLY PUT THE SHOWS NAME AND DATE ON THE DARKNESS TO LIGHT THREAD I am in awe of this show for the depth and difficulty of the subjects of post traumatic stress disorder, battle fatigue, the perseverance and bravery of the medics who go defenseless into war, the raw tackling of the child sex trade, and all the medical, traumatic, violent consequences and actions that are the result of sexual abuse, war, and poverty... Praise for MERCY is the opinion I would like to see on the internet to keep this valuable and truthful show going. It may have a positive ripple effect in this world of war, sexual abuse, and poverty, with a show of MERCY. Sincerely Deb | ||
